We will celebrate 20 years sharing key information for the promotion of new projects and strengthening our Statutes in key aspects for the development of our cooperative housing model

The next one Saturday June 29, from 10 a.m. to 16 p.m, we will hold our Ordinary General Assembly (AGM). This year the meeting will be inPopular Athenaeum of 9 districts (Carrer de Portlligat 11-15), in Nou Barris, Barcelona), a community-managed socio-cultural space, born as a result of neighborhood struggle. The space will allow us to do the session in complete comfort while at the same time we will be able to open playful spaces like one community lunch, and be able to end the day with one visit to our cooperative housing project Cirerers (5 minutes walk), located right in front of Cirerers. A corner of the city called to be a benchmark for cooperative housing in right of use!

We will send the formal agenda of the AGM with all its documentation on Thursday, June 13, after the Governing Council meeting. But all the members you want can already register through La Interna. It should be remembered that the AGO, to facilitate participation, it also allows their participation online. For those of you who cannot come in person, just indicate this when registering and we will provide you with the link to connect.

And also you can bring your baby! We have created a special children's area for children aged 3 to 10. We have reserved a special space full of games for you to enjoy the AGO in peace, in charge of Ludik Council.

Information sessions on land in Barcelona and financing of new projects

Prior to the formal celebration of the AGM, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., we will hold two parallel information sessions in order to share information of particular interest to all members regarding the development of new projects:

Solar futures for new projects in Barcelona

In 2020, the ESAL Agreement, a framework agreement between Barcelona City Council and the main federations of cooperatives and social housing foundations, through which the mechanisms for assigning public lots to entities. Since then, 7 cooperative housing projects have been launched (from which the floors of Can 70 or our new Sant Andreu project).

This session will be aimed at nearly 700 people expectant partners of Sostre Cívic in the city of Barcelona, to explain the current situation of the agreement, how many and which lots are planned for future cooperative housing projects, what schedule is planned, and what strategy we can follow to guarantee the development of the Agreement.

Financing strategies for projects in promotion

Currently, Sostre Cívic we are developing 11 projects that add up to more than 380 homes. All these projects already have allocated plots, in different municipalities (Barcelona, ​​Lleida, Cardedeu, Palamós, Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Manresa, Granollers, Vilafranca del Penedès and Sant Hilari Sacalm). Quite a challenge for the cooperative that will allow us a leap of scale that will place us in 2026 with a park of 25 projects and more than 650 cooperative homes. Many of these projects are developed on public land and have guaranteed Next Generation funds, but we need get more funding banking to obtain all the necessary funds that the feasibility plan for each project contemplates.

This session is intended mainly for those over 200 members of the groups promoting projects in development, in order to share the financing strategy, calendars and steps to follow in the coming months.

General Assembly: reform of the statutes, approval of new projects and new headquarters

From 11 a.m. to 14 p.m., we will formally celebrate the AGM. These will be the different items on the agenda:

• Approve the annual accounts of the cooperative for 2023: remember that you can consult the memory with the provisional closing of the year here.
• Reform of the Statutes: debate and approval of what was discussed in the 2nd meeting of partners:
  • Define and clarify the types of partners, including rights and duties
  • Regulate the transfer of the right of use between the living and in the event of death
  • Regulation of working partners on leave
• Approve a new project of 3 homes in Cellera de Ter (la Selva).
• Choose the members of the Resources Committee, the body responsible for resolving appeals against sanctions and other agreements of the Governing Council. Remember that you can send your application to info@sostrecivic.cat.
• Report on the search and acquisition strategy for a new corporate headquarters shared by the cooperative in Barcelona.

Remember that the AGM is the cooperative's decision-making space, which is convened normally once a year to approve the accounts and the Work Plan, defines the guidelines and action objectives as well as the election of members of the different bodies. The more than 1500 members are invited, participation is done on an individual basis and one vote is counted per member. 20th anniversary celebration, community lunch and visit to Cirerers

At 14 p.m., once the AGM has formally ended, we will have a small party event to celebrate 20 years of Sostre Cívic. With a brief historical tour and acknowledgments of the cooperative's first projects. And some more surprises! 

At 14.30 pm we will do one community lunch right there at the Athenaeum, with a price of €10 to be paid there. And then, for those who want, we will take a guided tour of the cooperative projects of Cirerers, located five minutes' walk from the Athenaeum.
