1. Lives in a cooperative home

Only members of the cooperative can enjoy the right of use of a home. In addition, the main criterion is the order of seniority of partner.

2. Support and support

We guide and advise you throughout the entire process: from the first questions, to joining an existing project or promoting a new one. In the coexistence phase, we also support the members who live there: from maintenance to economic and administrative management.

3. Democratic participation

You can take part in key decisions of the cooperative through your vote for theGeneral Assembly, and you can participate in the different governance spaces or meetings to contribute your perspective on topics such as sustainability or future projects.

4. Community and network

Annually to Sostre Cívic We have different spaces where we can meet, connect and create a community: the Members' Meeting, the General Assemblies, the welcome sessions for new members and the training itineraries are key moments to strengthen the links between projects and people.

5. Training and knowledge

With more than 20 projects promoted, we believe that socializing the accumulated knowledge is key to growing a strong, democratic and resilient cooperative housing model. Members have access to workshops, talks, training and resources about cooperativism, sustainable architecture, ecology, solidarity economy, feminism... and much more!

6. Mobility between projects

If, when you live in one of our homes, your situation changes (change of job, city, family needs, etc.), you can opt to move to another cooperative projectLives evolve, and so does cooperative housing!

7. Ethical profitability of your savings

You can grow the cooperative by contributing voluntary social capital, one of the ways of self-financing, along with the issuance of participatory securities. Here you can find out more. on how to make your savings make this a stronger model, while also getting a return on it.

Agreement with the Union of Tenants

We have joined forces with the Union to strengthen the fight for the right to housing. As a partner of Sostre Cívic:

  • etching collaborating affiliate from the Union at no extra cost.
  • You can join the Union with a reduced fee of only €18/year. Join us!
  • You have the right to a free first consultation legal advice on rent.
  • You can participate in trainings and assemblies with voice (and with vote if you become a full member).
  • You access discounts on legal services if necessary.

In addition, people affiliated with the Tenants' Union who become members of Sostre Cívic toes preference in access to projects in the face of new external requests.

Alliances with Opcions for conscious consumption

We collaborate with Opcions to promote a sustainable and cooperative life model.

  • Si Are you a member ofOpcions, you can join Sostre Cívic without contributing the €100 initial share capital. *Only for expectant partners, does not apply to project partners (in development or cohabitation)

  • Si Are you a member of Sostre Cívic, you can join Opcions without paying the €9 share capital and enjoying reduced prices:
    • Base fee at €0 (instead of the normal €12/year) 
    • Impulse fee at €35 (instead of the usual €40/year).
