We promote the urban farmhouse: an alternative to access to housing!

Urban farmhouses are a type of collective housing project based on non-speculative models, recognized by law, which is based on an agreement between the owner of a home (who transfers its use for a certain period of time) and the farmhouses (who undertake agreed renovation and maintenance works). The renovation works and maintenance actions can have different scopes and objectives, and are adjusted to the capacities and expectations of both parties.

A Sostre Cívic we promote urban farming to give exchange value and use in housing, give more affordable access to people and groups, activate and mobilize empty, damaged or outdated housing and rehabilitate disused heritage with criteria of accessibility and sustainability.

If you are interested in this alternative model of access to housing, you can download the manual we have edited on urban masoveria. The manual includes the four essential steps: defining the group, searching for the heritage, defining the project and executing the masoveria.

We present the first co-housing project for the elderly in Catalonia

We present the first co-housing project for the elderly that we are promoting in El Catllar (Camp de Tarragona) with the recovery of La Fàbrica to develop a cooperative housing project for shared use with shared services and spaces for active and self-managed aging.

This project aims to respond to the strong social demand for collective housing with services for the over 65 age group. The rehabilitation of the Fàbrica del Catllar proposes a new model for the reactivation of disused heritage of high historical, social and architectural value. At the same time, sustainable and efficient construction criteria and energy rehabilitation and collective energy management will be applied.

The social, supportive and transformative economy is the paradigm that will govern the project, as it will promote democratic management and the value of use of housing with a non-speculative model. In addition, the project aims to enhance and protect the green space of high ecological value that surrounds La Fàbrica del Catllar, as well as its great landscape value.

People interested in learning about the project have the opportunity to attend the presentations that we will make in Barcelona and Tarragona and register on the interested party form to be part of the driving group that will be set up in the coming months.

There are only a few weeks left to complete the rehabilitation works that are being carried out in the building of Princesa49, the first cooperative housing project in right of use of the entity in Barcelona. The actions have made it possible to fully rehabilitate the multi-family building from the 75th century, owned by Barcelona City Council, and transferred as surface rights in favor of the cooperative for a period of 20 years. The works started a year ago, on April 2017, 57, with a work commencement ceremony attended by representatives of the General Directorate of Social Economy, Barcelona City Council and CoopXNUMX.

The comprehensive rehabilitation of the building between partitions has allowed us to recover and reconfigure 5 homes, one per floor, between 45m2 and 65m2 and three spaces for collective use on the ground floor in relation to the neighborhood, a study on the first floor second and the cover.

The rehabilitation has made it possible to significantly improve the energy performance of the building, improve accessibility and recover distinctive elements such as hydraulic floors, interior and exterior carpentry and original ceilings.

The rehabilitation works are carried out by Aprise Empresa d'Inserció Social, SCCL specialized in reforms and rehabilitations and are financed by the Coop57 and the initial contributions of the users and future neighbors of the building.

The future users, members of the driving group, have participated in the configuration and design of the project through a participatory process and during the works they have made a series of visits to the building to finally decide on the finishes and monitor the different actions that were being carried out.

We face the final stretch with great enthusiasm to launch the first cooperative housing project in right of use in Barcelona very soon!

Tornassol: participatory titles for the project in Cardedeu!

let's start Tornassol, a funding campaign to boost thecooperative housing in Cardedeu!

Let's launch this one campaign to issue participatory titles with the aim of buying a private lot in the municipality of Cardedeu, where it will be built Cal Paler Nou (previously called "La Serreta"), a cooperative housing building under a right of use regime.

The financing campaign, named as Tornassol, flight achieve a pioneering challenge in Catalonia: recover a privately owned lot and guarantee the right to housing for the residents of Cardedeu. To finance the purchase of the plot, we have issued 600 participation certificates, worth 500 euros each, which can be purchased until March 1.

We want to achieve, thanks to collective financing, a new impetus to deal, in a self-organized way, with the real estate bubble and speculation. We don't want the Cardedeu project to be unique, but we want to replicate it in other places in order to recover the private land and return it to the citizens!

The building will consist of 39 homes of different sizes, where the collective spaces will be very important. In addition, it will be built in a privileged space, connected to an agricultural park and the peri-urban park of La Serreta.

La Baula's team of architects will be in charge of the design of the project and from Sostre Cívic we have already launched a promoter group of members who will promote the promotion through a participatory process.
