WHO WE ARE

We are a group of people passionate about the project of developing a cooperative housing development for people aged 50/55 and over (senior mode) in a municipality in Maresme.

We are part of the cooperative Sostre Cívic who advises us and serves as a guide to move forward with the project, given their experience in this type of action. We are part of the Senior Citizens' Table that brings together senior groups from Sostre Cívic.

Right now, in the Vilassostre driving group, we are 13 coexistence units.


WHAT MOTIVATES US

  • Find an alternative to the current nursing home model.
  • Living an active old age.
  • Remaining independent for as long as possible, with the support of the community,
  • Being able to decide how we want to live the last years of our lives. We are a finalist group (we want to live at home until death).
  • Take care of each other. Avoid involuntary loneliness and isolation.
  • Sharing spaces while maintaining our privacy.
  • Share services.
  • Relating to the environment: Being a driving force for activities for the town and interacting with municipal activities.


CURRENT STATUS OF THE PROJECT

We are 13 living units (16 people). And we are in the process of incorporating some more.

Our group began working at the beginning of 2022. We have reached agreements on the coexistence and care model we want, but there is still a lot of work to be done.

Currently, we do not have a plot of land or a building where we can develop the project, but we have made arrangements for plots of land and buildings owned by the public and private sector. We have interviewed the following town councils: Cabrera de Mar, Cabrils, Premià de Mar, Vilassar de Dalt, Vilassar de Mar. We have also made arrangements with some owners and some institutions. We will have studied 8-9 possible locations, each with its own difficulties.


We bet on:

  • Ecological and energetically sustainable construction.
  • Minimize private spaces to gain common spaces, reduce costs and promote coexistence.
  • Preferred location: Maresme
  • Number of units: minimum 20 units (possibly 30).
