We join forces with 'La Raval' to promote cooperative housing in Manresa.
The new 'El Rusc' project has 12 homes intended for young people and the elderly. Registrations to live there are open from June 20 to July 23.


We promote a new project in Manresa. This time, it was a rehabilitation of a disused building owned by a banking entity and, therefore, rescued from speculation to pass permanently into collective ownership. Today, together with 'La Raval' (another cooperative housing project in Manresa accompanied by 'La Dinamo') we announced the opening of the registration period for 'El Rusc', our new project of twelve cooperative housing, preferably aimed at young people and the elderly.
'El Rusc' is located in a building until now disused and owned by a financial institution. The property was acquired in 2021 by Sostre Cívic, consists of 12 cooperative homes between 30 and 35 m2, and has been rehabilitated to restore its habitable conditions, providing, at the same time, community facilities enormously expanding its energy efficiency.
The rehabilitation of the building it had the financial support of Manresa City Council, which contributed €50.000. The public-cooperative collaboration was formalized through the signing of an agreement that has allowed the council to influence the definition of the profiles of the future users of the homes.
In this way, the homes will be allocated preferentially to young people under 30 and seniors over 65, with the aim of responding to the difficulty in accessing housing for these specific groups. It will also take into account the people of the municipality already organized to spread this new model of cooperative housing, giving them access priority.
All people who enter to live there must comply official protection requirements and be members of Sostre Cívic. In addition, they must be able to assume the financial contributions of the project: stable monthly installments of between €335 and €385, and a single initial contribution (returnable in case of cancellation of the project) that ranges between €1.900 and €2.400 it depends on the characteristics of the home.
The registration period for the project opens from today June 20 to July 23. During the public registration campaign, there will be three information sessions and two visits to the building. It is expected that the entrance to live in the homes will be between September and October.

Cooperative housing is consolidated in Manresa
For this project we wanted to join forces in the territory to promote cooperative housing. We have presented 'El Rusc' next to 'La Raval', the project of 18 homes accompanied by "The Dynamo" which is already being built on municipal public land and that still has vacant places to join. We presented both projects with the support of theCooperative University of Central Catalonia, which is responsible for supporting and advising projects of these characteristics. Apart from the Raval projects and Sostre Cívic, from the Ateneo they have advanced that they are accompanying two other initiatives of groups that are already established and that would be interested in making a private purchase.
In addition, as we already announced a few months ago, from Sostre Cívic we will build sixty cooperative homes under official protection on a municipal lot on the Pont de Vilomara road. This would be the second largest cooperative housing development in the right of use in Catalonia, after the project in the Sant Andreu district of Barcelona with eighty homes. The works will begin in 2024 with the expectation of moving in in 2026. Remember that being part of a project of Sostre Cívic it does not prevent you from being able to move to another one in the future.
