Do you want to live in a cooperative housing in Baix Empordà? On April 1st we opened registrations to participate in this project: a building with 6 homes on 2 floors , built in 2008 and located 4 minutes walk from the bus station and 10 minutes from the City Hall and Plaça Nova.

Right of trial

The building has been acquired through the right of first refusal in force since the approval of the Law Decree 1/2015 of extraordinary and urgent measures for the mobilization of homes resulting from mortgage foreclosure processes. With the approval of this decree, preference is given to the Generalitat, town councils and social promoters like Sostre Cívic for the purchase of these homes.

The Housing Agency of Catalonia promoted an agreement with the Catalan Institute of Finances (ICF) to finance acquisition operations via pre-emption from the ICF. In addition, in this case, a collaboration agreement has been made with the Palafrugell City Council.

Calendar of the incorporation process

Following the logic of the cooperative housing model that we promote, it will be prioritized that groups with previous links between their members and with the municipality can participate. That is why we have divided the incorporation process into two phases, a first for group registration and the second for individual registrations. The date initially proposed by the latter has been advanced in order to speed up the awarding process, and finally the dates are as follows:

• From 1 to 15 April: First we will open a period of incorporations to groups of people who are partners of Sostre Cívic and to all citizens of the municipality and area. In the event that groups are presented, they will have priority over individuals.
• From April 20: In the event that no group is presented or the groups presented do not complete the entirety of the property or do not meet a minimum of the established criteria (to be consulted in the informative document), the process will be opened to individuals, following the seniority order of membership of Sostre Cívic.

In addition, two of the six homes have been allocated to people at risk of residential exclusion to find themselves in situations of vulnerability and economic and social emergency and will be managed through the Catalan Emergency Board and the social services of the Palafrugell Town Council. This has also been possible, due to the cooperation between Sostre Cívic and the City Council through a collaboration agreement between both parties.
