PRINCIPLES OF THE MODEL

The cooperative and transformative housing sector of the Solidarity Economy Network (XES) brings together different projects and entities that promote the cooperative model in right of use with the impetus of the social market sharing principles and values.

Check them out regulatory principles of the model of the Housing Sector of the XES, ratified and approved by the General Assembly of Sostre Cívic.

A Sostre Cívic we promote a transformative model of housing access and tenure that is based on the following principles and values:

NON-PROFIT AND COLLECTIVE PROPERTY

Collective ownership is maintained over time, with indefinite duration and without profit. The financing of the project is collective, the returnable social capital is limited with respect to the total investment, and there is no recovery of the usage fee to guarantee its affordability.

SELF-MANAGEMENT AND COMMUNITY

The future resident partners collectively lead and take responsibility for the project, putting efforts into empowerment, training and decision-making throughout the process. The intention is to live in a more communal way, through mutual support, solidarity and the relationship with the environment, putting people and their needs at the center with the possibility of sharing spaces and services.

AFFORDABLE AND INCLUSIVE HOUSING

The transfer of the use of the house is done through the cooperative, with transparent access criteria. The initial contribution is limited to facilitate access to the project over time. Self-promotion makes it possible to reduce the production costs of homes and common spaces and participatory design that responds to needs.

REPLICABILITY AND SOCIAL MARKET

Through the mutual cooperation and the collaboration with other entities, projects and existing initiatives we promote the social market and the solidarity economy (ESS). We share knowledge with the sector and the environment. In addition, we develop actions to promote and spread the model among interested people and public administrations.

SUSTAINABILITY

We work in the fight for the right to housing, with the intention of co-responsibility with the environment and ties to the territory and we are committed to environmental sustainability, energy efficiency and the reduction of consumption.
