Together with the City Council of Calonge and Sant Antoni, we promote La Sala, the first cooperative housing project in the municipality. We have recovered a disused building to offer access to decent housing in the locality, making available 14 homes that have been preferentially allocated to young people under 36 years of age. The goal is to offer an affordable and worthy housing alternative to emancipate the young people of the municipality, which currently has one of the most expensive rental prices in the whole province as a result of the pressure of the tourist model.
The total budget for the promotion, including acquisition and rehabilitation costs, was €1.560.000, financed entirely with a mortgage loan from the Catalan Institute of Finance of the Generalitat of Catalonia, and with a subsidy contribution from €300.000 from the City Council of Calonge and Sant Antoni.
HOW ARE THE HOUSING?
The building of La Sala is located at Calle Sala 24 (Calonge) and consists of a basement (with parking), ground floor and two first floors. The building is on a corner and has an interior courtyard: a large complementary collective space for the use of the members of the cooperative who live there. All homes have a hall, two bedrooms, a bathroom, a dining room and also a kitchen with utility room.
The homes are managed under the model of cooperative housing in right of use, like all the buildings of our cooperative. This mechanism makes housing affordable: the fees for the use of the homes are between €280 and €400, and members must make a partially refundable initial contribution of a maximum of €5.500.
For all homes, people who access them must comply official protection requirements. In addition, 4 of the 14 homes have monthly installments and a lower initial contribution and they target cohabitation units with lower incomes, and have been assigned by lottery by the Calonge and Sant Antoni City Council among the interested people who signed up in the first phase of registration.
A rehabilitation focused on saving energy and consumption
In 2021, the reform project, developed by the cooperative, began Celobert, with the main objective of rehabilitating the homes and common spaces so that they recover the conditions of habitability and use and equip the building with facilities and community elements, aimed at obtaining a greater energy efficiency and an optimization of resources through sharing them.
So, a biomass boiler (pellets) and photovoltaic panels have been installed to allow make significant use of self-produced renewable energy, which leads to a low expenditure on the individual consumption of electricity, heating and hot water in the homes
In addition, in order to promote more ecological mobility and reduce our emissions, in the parking lot of the building itself there is a shared electric car, Som Mobilitat cooperative. The users of the building will be able to use the car at a cheaper rate thanks to an agreement between the two entities.
