On Tuesday 29 September in the morning, the conference "Public policies for the promotion of cooperative housing" took place, organized by the housing sector of the XES, Coopolis, Sostre Cívic i the dynamo with the aim of generating a meeting space between people representing public administrations and the cooperative sector and the ESS to discuss the cooperative housing model in right of use and how to build alliances and expand and systematize the mechanisms of public community collaboration that allow progress in the implementation of the model.

The day generated a lot of anticipation, with more than 210 people registered, among those connected by streaming and those who attended in person. Many of them were representatives and technicians from different town councils in the territory, such as Terrassa, Barberà del Vallès, Valls or El Vendrell, among others.

During the first part of the event, different ones were presented proposals and ways to build the cooperative public alliance; by Lorenzo Vidal (IGOP researcher and partner of Sotrac), Arnau Andres (member of La Dinamo Fundació and partner of Lacol), the David Guàrdia (Sostre Cívic) and Paula Martí (partner of Celobert and member of the Ruderal project).

After the break, two were made round tables with different members of the public administrations to debate, firstly, the structuring policies from the Generalitat de Catalunya, and secondly, the role of local governments in promoting cooperative housing projects. The conclusions of the day were very interesting and positive, putting on the table measures that are already being applied or are expected to be applied to promote cooperative housing in right of use. It is confirmed that the political alignment to take the model forward is there, but it is still necessary to generate one joint work framework to make it possible.

From the housing sector of the XES it is planned to make one political advocacy campaign in the coming months, which will collect a synthesis of all the conclusions of the day in order to advance concrete measures.
