Promoting and enabling collaborative housing is key to guaranteeing the right to decent housing and the right to the city, and also so that the main protagonists, the residents, are an active part of the construction of their habitat and their cities . Past editions of the Collaborative Housing Days (in Europe) have proven to be useful experiences in bringing together a variety of actors working to promote sustainable, affordable housing solutions driven by their own residents. These international events have proven to be an opportunity for peer-to-peer learning, knowledge sharing and project documentation, increasing the visibility of collaborative housing solutions between managers, citizens and administrations that promote social housing and public

The schedule of activities are organized by Cooperative Housing International (a sector organization of the International Co-operative Alliance established to promote co-operative housing worldwide), urban world (European association that promotes community housing at local and international level), Co-Lab Research (university research group in the Netherlands working on the development, discussion and valorization of knowledge about collaborative housing), World Habitat (international charitable organization linked to the UN), the Community Land Trust European Network, Global platform for the right to the city, others.

Sostre Cívic it is the first time we participate and we hope to find in Helsinki a space for multi-stakeholder and intersectoral dialogue. We will bring our Catalan experience to promote a cooperative housing model based on collective ownership, affordability, the fight against speculation, sustainability and the values of the Social and Solidarity Economy. We also hope to return with experiences that will allow us to continue moving towards transforming the reality of housing in our country.
