Cirerers is our second newly built cooperative housing project in right of use, located on a municipal plot in the Roquetes neighborhood of Barcelona, ​​ceded by Barcelona City Council for 75 years. It represents a successful model for access to affordable, sustainable and self-managed housing by the community. It is a building with eight floors (including the ground floor), thirty-two homes and community spaces. Since April 2022, a group of people have lived there grouped in various types of cohabitation units. With large shared spaces that encourage community life and solidarity between partners, Cirerers has become a benchmark for innovation in sustainability and social cohesion within the field of cooperative housing, demonstrating that the model is a viable and replicable alternative to the traditional property system in urban environments.

The external financing of Cirerers it is mainly possible thanks to Fiare-Banca Ética, as well as the contributions in the form of participatory titles of Sostre Cívic. By maintaining participatory titles we guarantee affordable quotas, and this allows the model of cooperative housing in right of use to be replicated in other projects, consolidating a path towards fairer access to housing.
