Sostre Cívic promotes a transformative model of housing access and tenure based on the following principles
NON- PROFIT AND COLLECTIVE PROPERTY
Collective ownership is maintained over time, for an indefinite period of time and on a non-profit basis. The financing of the project is collective, where the initial contribution can be returned but not the monthly fees, in order to guarantee the affordability of the model.
SELF-MANAGEMENT AND COMMUNITY
The future inhabitants, members of Sostre Cívic, collectively lead and take responsibility for the project, putting efforts into empowerment, training and decision making throughout the process. The intention is to live in a more communitarian way, through mutual support, solidarity and relationship with the environment by putting people and their needs in the centre with the possibility of sharing spaces and services.
AFFORDABLE AND INCLUSIVE HOUSING
The right to use of the dwelling is done through the cooperative, with transparent access criteria. The initial contribution is limited to facilitate access to the project in the long term. Self-promotion allows for a reduction in the production costs of housing and common spaces. The participatory design allows us to respond to the needs of each project.
REPLICABILITY AND SOCIAL MARKET
Through intercooperation and collaboration with other existing entities, projects and initiatives we promote the social market and the solidarity economy (SSE). We share knowledge with the sector and the environment. In addition, we develop actions to promote and disseminate the model among stakeholders and public administrations.
SUSTAINABILITY
We work in the fight for the right to housing, with the intention of co-responsibility with the environment and link to the territory and we bet on environmental sustainability, energy efficiency and reduction of consumption.
