Clau Mestra begins the last phase of his works

It is the third work that La Constructiva delivered on time and on budget in the last three years, after the buildings of La Balma i Cirerers.

The rehabilitation project of the old Houses of the Masters of La Floresta begins the last stage of its works, a new phase of self-construction executed by the group that starts after the reform and expansion tasks carried out by La Constructiva. Now is the time to finish the last details: laying the parquet floors, preparing the outdoor space, painting the walls, and installing the kitchens.

A Clau Mestra, the group's participation has been a key element, also in the construction phase: 13% of the rehabilitation is done throughassisted self-construction. This is an innovative model in the construction of cooperative housing that has the dual objective of reducing construction costs and serving as a tool to empower the group of future cohabitants.

Those of this project include the comprehensive rehabilitation of the property and its extension to allow access to all the homes and increase the living area. Bio-building systems and materials, such as wood, as well as highly efficient passive and active installations are being used. The end result will make the building an example of more sustainable construction and consumption than conventional methods.

La Constructiva is consolidated as a cooperative housing construction company in right of use

Clau Mestra has been the first work of reform and expansion of La Constructiva, a project that required a specific work organization design with the aim of integrating for the first time the self-construction tasks carried out by the group. The positive results of the experience and the learning acquired mean that we can replicate this methodology for future projects.

La Constructiva was established in 2018, driven by Sostre Cívic, for being the first non-profit service cooperative focused on the construction of cooperative housing in the right of use. His career is short, but very intense: in these 4 years he has already built the cooperative buildings of La Balma i Cirerers in Barcelona, both works delivered on time and on budget.
