VALUES

Our values ​​are the fundamental principles that inspire us to continue working and they guide behavior and decisions of our cooperative and its members.

At the Ordinary General Assembly of June 30, 2023, the partners of Sostre Cívic we ratified the Strategic Plan 2025, which will guide our growth in a sustainable and sustained manner and where the mission, vision and values ​​of our entity were defined. We explain them below:

Sustainability and innovation

We work to develop cooperative dynamics, where people meet their housing needs in an affordable and stable way over time. We work to find alternatives to access housing. 

Commitment to the environment

We ensure respect for the environment and care for the environment. We develop more humane and sustainable housing projects both internally within the housing project generating community dynamics and mutual support, and externally in the immediate environment.

We thus incorporate different lines into all our projects:

• Social inclusion: A Sostre Cívic we recognize that the violation of the right to housing generates situations of special vulnerability and social exclusion that do not affect the population equally. That is why we work to promote inclusion and social diversity with different actions:
  • We reserve homes for people in vulnerable situations in the cooperative's projects.
  • We establish collaboration agreements with entities that accompany people from vulnerable groups.
  • We manage homes from the Generalitat's Emergency Committee, with an agreement with the municipality's Basic Social Services.

• Environmental sustainability: We work for an energy transition, which we see as not only desirable, but inevitable. We apply sustainability and energy efficiency criteria in the construction and use of buildings with the objectives of reducing consumption, environmental impact, and the use of renewable energy. The use of centralized facilities, telematic monitoring of consumption and facilities, and electricity production with photovoltaic panels make it possible to achieve them.

Democratic management

Democratic governance is one of the pillars of Sostre Cívic. That is why we have different spaces where members can actively participate in the definition of the policies and in the decision-making of the cooperative and its housing projects. 

In 2022, after an internal reflection process to improve the governance of Sostre Cívic, new spaces for participation such as the Project Council and the Assembly of Work Partners are incorporated, and the spaces and bodies that already existed are reviewed to improve their operation and improve participation and the balance between the different types of partners.

Intercooperation

Sostre Cívic it is part of various spaces and networks of the social economy and the field of housing. We work together with other organizations with whom we share values, principles and objectives to transform the housing model in Catalonia.

Networking, collaboration, mutual support and bonding with others is a form of work present in our projects.

We promote co-operatives in the way we live and organize ourselves as an entity, but also through the demand, consumption and use of services and products provided by social economy actors.
