La Corrala we are a group of residents of the Poble Sec neighborhood who started meeting in 2015 with the intention of providing a collective response to one of the most basic needs we share: access to housing.

We started working on the proposal independently in 2015, but we soon joined a Sostre Cívic, who have accompanied and advised us on a regular basis since then.

The different family units have gotten to know each other through community networks and the strong associative activity in the neighborhood. For some time now, the gentrification process that is taking place in Poble Sec has made it difficult for the neighbors to stay for long periods of time and keep alive the relationships that have been forged over the years. That's why our project is to build or rehabilitate one or several buildings that allow us to build a life together and stay rooted in the neighborhood, without pursuing the accumulation of heritage.

In addition, we value very positively the opportunity to rethink the prevailing housing model, recovering the idea of sharing more spaces, supplies and resources. Even with the idea of including uses that respond to the needs of the neighborhood if possible. So far we have explored several vacant and municipally owned lots in the neighborhood, but we have not been able to get them to enter the public tenders that have been held.
