Who are we?

We are Toni, Míriam, Nina, Pepa, Daniel, Lídia and Teresa; 7 different coexistence units and at different moments in life with common interests and objectives to develop a heterogeneous, intergenerational and sustainable cooperative housing project in the city of Barcelona. The group was born from a group generation workshop Sostre Cívic in the month of October 2021, during the pandemic.

The social isolation of the pandemic gave us the boost we needed to turn our housing model upside down and bet on a more humane and more sustainable community life model.

Where is our project located?

We want to carry out a project in our city, Barcelona, where we have taken root and have our network. We want to stay here, as an act of activism transforming the real estate market and citizen resistance. We decide to stay despite everything pushing us out of the city to look for less prohibitive housing opportunities. We come from different neighborhoods, we don't prioritize any of them to build the project and we are clear that wherever we end up living we want to be linked to the fabric of the neighborhood.

Taking into account the possibilities that the city currently offers and the limitations of our economic capacity, we bet on developing our project in public ground, and therefore meeting HPO criteria.

How do we imagine our project?

We imagine a model of coexistence that, in a certain way, recover village or neighborhood life where everyone knows each other. A friendly space in which diverse people of all ages live and where an atmosphere of trust prevails to ask for a helping hand with small problems or to go outside with a chair in the cool of the evening and chat with a neighbor for a while.

We imagine a cooperative project with spaces for community use and others for private use, because we understand that a balance between the need for individual or family privacy and the desire to live together and relate in a wider community environment is important that of the family.

Regarding the type of consumption, we would prefer a model focused on creating links with the environment where it is located.
