Summary of the Ordinary General Assembly of June 14, 2019

Last Friday, we held the 2019 Ordinary General Assembly at Violeta de Gràcia Sostre Cívic. Let's grow again in participation and, with 140 votes a la sala, between attendees and delegates, it was the largest assembly in the cooperative's history! We build the alternative to housing collectively.

The Assembly began with the presentation of the memory of 2018 and the projection of the video of interviews with the members of the project Pomaret, urban farmhouse in the Sarrià district of Barcelona, which ended a couple of months ago.

Agreements of the Assembly

As in every Assembly of our organization, the documents presented for approval arise from a previous debate at the Board of Directors and in specific groups or Open Spaces to work and collect contributions from members.

Below, we summarize the proposals approved in this General Assembly:

      • The incorporation of 9 new people to the Governing Council is approved to fill the vacant positions. By direct election of the Assembly, Carlos Alcoba Casares, Marina González Moro, Elsa Camí Bou and Martí Bayer Raich are elected. The members designated by the projects and ratified by the Assembly are Ander Estebánez Centeno (Princesa49), the Ona Cornellà Zamora (La Balma), the Dolors Candelaria Sanfelix Ayres (Cirerers), Ma Pilar Larios Miranda (Cal Palé-La Serreta) and Josep Maria Ricart Puignerò (Walden XXI).

      • The 2019 work plan is approved, which continues the 2018 plan.

      • The 2019 budget is approved, which includes the proposal to increase the waiting member fees and the co-management fees for the projects in promotion. An informative email will be sent to all members to detail and explain the new dues for prospective members.

      • The issuance of participatory titles for the projects of La Balma i Cirerers. The nominal value of each title corresponds to €500, and a total of 1.300 participatory titles are issued.

      • The creation of the private Clau de Volta Foundation is agreed to be able to make the acquisition of the buildings through the right of trial and withdrawal that was approved at the last assembly last February.

      • The purchase of the property located on the Girona road, 15, in Sant Feliu de Guíxols and the creation of the Senior Cooperative Housing Project Walden XXI, a senior co-housing project, are approved.

      • The agreement on social inclusion flats in the cooperative housing projects that was postponed to the extraordinary assembly in February is approved.

      • The basic lines and implementation actions of the Fund for education and promotion of cooperatives are approved, which are framed in the following 3 areas:
        • Training and promotion of cooperatives.
        • Intercooperation and network.

Remember that you can consult the detailed documentation of each point in the La Interna page of the official meeting call.

They were also presented 2018 audited accounts, but it was proposed not to vote on them because it was not possible to get the documentation to the partners in enough time to be able to review it properly. They will be put to a vote at the next assembly.

In addition, at the end we had a space where Clau Mestra, La Balma, Cirerers, Cal Palé-La Serreta and Princesa49 they explained the current situation of each of the projects and they summarized the work and progress made in the last year, detailing all the challenges and problems that have arisen along the way. The experience was very profitable and interesting, so much so that it was proposed to repeat it periodically in the Open Spaces to share knowledge and reflections between the projects themselves, and also with the partner people who are not yet part of any of them.

Thank you all for attending and… see you next time! 🙂
