ECOS guide: "Cooperative housing: participate, build, live"

El ECOS cooperative group, of which Sostre Cívic is one of the partner organizations, has released a new issue of its ECOS Transformation guide series, and this time it is dedicated to... housing!

The ECOS Transformation guides they are designed to bring citizens closer to social and solidarity economy alternatives related to different areas of life, grouping resources and useful information on different topics. The previous titles are:

  1. Cooperative and sustainable Internet: A fairer Internet oriented towards the common benefit is beginning to be considered.
  2. Ethical finance up to date: Which entities promote financing with values ​​such as democracy and transparency?
  3. Communication that breaks the mold: New media and new models of journalism framed in the social and solidarity economy.
  4. Itineraries from the margins: Initiatives and tracks to promote the inclusion and employment of vulnerable people.
  5. Towards an open and collective science: Science is in transition and research will be more global, networked and open.
  6. Social and collective entrepreneurship: Spaces and entities that can serve as support to take collective social entrepreneurship projects forward.

Beyond renting and buying

The seventh guide, with the title "Cooperative housing: live, build, live", reviews the data on the housing sector in Catalonia, and briefly and didactically explains the alternatives to conventional housing, with examples of the different initiatives that have been carried out so far in the territory.
