The model of cooperative housing in right of use is characterized by a transformative will and action outside the margins of the capitalist residential market. From Sostre Cívic we work so that the projects we promote are imbued with principles of the solidarity economy, among which is interest in the community and responsibility towards the environment, both in environmental and economic terms as well as in social terms. 

Therefore, we promote co-operatives in the form of living and organization, but also through the demand, consumption and use of services and products. Until now, although a good part of the needs of our projects was provided by companies of the social economy, the incorporation of insertion companies in the sector has been very scarce. That is why during the year 2022, i thanks to Unique Projects, we have promoted an initiative to start doing this also partially in socio-labor insertion companies.

Inter-cooperation to create employment for groups with special vulnerability

The project, which started in October 2021 and will end next month, was born as a collaboration between La Constructiva, the Training and Work i Saó Prat, two relevant placement companies with experience and track record in the construction/rehabilitation sector. It is proposed together as a pilot test, to incorporate insertion companies in some work processes and generate insertion opportunities, increasing their social value.

We would like to highlight some actions and results of this project:  

• Incorporation of insertion companies in the works of the cooperative housing projects of Cirerers i Clau Mestra.
• Realization of improvements to the cooperative housing project of Princesa49. 
• Analysis and evaluation of the work experience, to improve the fit between the offer of services (of the insertion companies) and the demand (cooperative housing in right of use), and establish the bases for generating new possibility of collaboration, in the work and rehabilitation of cooperative housing.    
• Create a social market and establish new relationships and work experiences.
• Identify insertion organizations and the services they can provide to cooperative housing.

We promote the social economy thanks to Unique Projects

This project has been possible thanks to being beneficiaries of the program Unique Projects 2021 with the project "Socio-labour integration and strengthening of the social market in the construction of cooperative housing". 

The call of the Unique Projects aims to generate employment through the creation of new business projects, new lines of business, new companies and new markets within the framework of the social and cooperative economy and taking advantage of strategic opportunities in the activity sector itself or in the territory.

This grant is within the framework of the Social Economy, and is promoted by the Department of Work, Social Affairs and Families of the Generalitat de Catalunya, with funding from the Ministry of Employment and Social Security of the State Public Employment Service.
