Recently in Sostre Cívic we have started the elaboration of the Protocol against gender violence, which will allow us to act in the detecting and addressing sexist violence  and LGBTIphobic in the cooperative. The process started last July with the creation of the engine group, and will last until February 2023, when it culminates with the elaborated protocol.

The preparation of this protocol is not only about having a written document and opening it when we find ourselves in the need to address a case. It is about stimulating values ​​in the cooperative as a whole based on mutual respect, inclusion of diversity and rejection of sexist violence. But also to promote the visibility of people who have less privileges to be able to report cases of harassment, and to offer tools and training so that those who have more, question their actions linked to the exercise of violence and aggression.

Therefore, although this project will be developed in one year, its scope is long-term, promoting a new look at the cooperative and a empowerment of the social base in this way.

Why do we do that?

The antecedents and reasons for going ahead with this project are the result of having one gender perspective in everything that the entity develops. We start from a perspective from which we pay attention to the differentiated reality that women and men have in society, and that these inequalities have a social origin, acquiring concrete expressions in all areas.

A cooperative of more than 1000 people, com Sostre Cívic, has many relationship, participation and training spaces, in which these behaviors are also reproduced.

We set up this project to detect these harassments towards women and LGBTIQ+ people through work sessions especially dedicated to detect sexist attacks, as well as many others in the approach when cases are detected, an approach based on accompaniment and reparation.

How do we do it?

In the process we will have the support of the cooperative The Esberla, an entity specialized in supporting internal transformation processes of educational organizations and communities.

The scheduled schedule of sessions is as follows
