More than 135 participants in the Extraordinary General Assembly

Last Friday, February 22, the General Assembly was held Sostre Cívic, of an extraordinary nature. With 137 votes a la sala, between attendees and delegates, has been the largest assembly in the cooperative's history… The alternative to housing is built collectively!

On this occasion, the Lleialtat Santsenca he witnessed this space for participation, which began to fill up a quarter of an hour before the first call to assembly, at 18 p.m. Old familiar faces, but also many new ones, met and, amid laughter and hugs, it became clear that attendance expectations would be exceeded quickly.

As one member commented, the "feeling of satisfaction and hope" was shared by all, seeing a room so full of people and the desire to transform the way of understanding housing.

Proposals and agreements approved at the General Assembly

The documents presented for approval were previously defined in the Governing Council and in the different participation spaces of Sostre Cívic, such as the working groups or the Open Space, where weeks before it was possible to collect the contributions of the interested partners who participated.

The proposals that were approved at the General Assembly are:

  • The is approved recruitment of the auditing company for a period of 3 years.

  • It is agreed to modify articles 54 and 55 of the social statutes of the cooperative, relating to the Compulsory Reserve Fund and the Cooperative Education and Promotion Fund, to increase the percentage that on the surpluses resulting from the exercise must be allocated to endow the mandatory funds in compliance with the provisions of Law 12/2015 of July 9 of cooperatives. Specifically, it has been approved to endow the Mandatory Reserve Fund with a 60% and the Cooperative Education and Promotion Fund with one 30%.

  • The are approved and ratified regulatory principles of the Transfer of Use Model, approved by the Cooperative and Transformative Housing Sector of the Social and Solidarity Economy Network of Catalonia, and which are configured as elements that must govern any cooperative housing project based on this model. Therefore, Sostre Cívic is obliged to comply with these principles in all its projects.

  • During the last 8 months, Sostre Cívic has received more than 25.000 homes that can be purchased through the right of trial and withdrawal, of which more than 2.000 homes have been analyzed and more than 600 have been visited. Of these, it is proposed to acquire 61 homes in this first phase, of which 59 are sets of homes in the same building. The acquisition of the selected properties is approved and the creation of corres cooperative housing projectsponents for the buildings or group of homes that are acquired.

It was also debated about the social inclusion housing reservation to cooperative housing projects and the percentage of flats to be included in each project. We will continue working on this point to bring a consensus proposal to the next assembly in June.

The act ended with a pica pica in the same room, one more informal meeting place for members intended as an opportunity to exchange experiences, share impressions and, above all, get to know each other!
