Last June 15 at the Ordinary General Assembly of Sostre Cívic the project to create a Social Construction Company was presented. This proposal stems from the entity's strategic growth plan and has become one of the lines of work of the technical team with a specific monitoring group and the supervision and support of the Governing Council of Sostre Cívic.

Its fundamental pillar is to promote the construction of ethical and social housing, in order to boost the social and sustainable economy in the Catalan construction sector. Construction management is a key element in the housing development process and is a service currently not offered by the social economy entities that operate in this sector. So the project wants to respond to this need detected by the non-profit entities that promote housing and shared with the social economy companies that work with us.

It is about taking another step in the complete management of projects, from the model of Sostre Cívic and user groups, going through promotion and now adding construction.

Be able to build incorporating parameters of the social economy, sustainability and collaborate in promoting the model.

Facilitate promotion
To be an instrument with talent (app and attitudes) that helps guarantee the ability to respond from cooperativeism to the challenges of housing cooperatives and others.

Promote feasibility
Thanks to the synergies with the developer and the transparency between the group's cooperatives, we will manage to eliminate repetitive tasks, expenses and adjust the construction costs.

Close the circle
Non-profit, a margin to allocate to reinvestment, responsibility and to reduce costs.

The margin created by reducing expenses and non-profit allows to decide its distribution:

• Reinvestment in construction (less future cost, ability to invest, training)
• Prioritize price responsibility
• Internal and third-party training
• Reduce costs for users

The Unique Projects they work in parallel and complementary to the Ateneus Cooperatives, and aim to generate employment through the creation of new business projects, new lines of business, new companies, new markets, within the framework of the social and cooperative economy and taking advantage strategic opportunities of the activity sector itself, or of the territory.
