The project envisages the construction of a building in a cooperative right of use regime, with 34 homes and parking spaces, with a total of 2.590 m2 built and distributed on the ground floor plus five.

The City Council of Palamós has already signed the right of use to Sostre Cívic of the public land where this building will be built, located on Avinguda de Catalunya and with a total area of ​​1.000 m2. 

The aim of this project is to increase the housing stock intended for social policies in the municipality, in order to cover the needs of decent, stable and affordable housing for young people or priority groups such as single-parent families or over 65 years of age.

This morning (June 21, 2021), together with the mayor of Palamós, Lluís Puig, and the Councilor for Housing, Maria Puig, we have presented what will be the first promotion of social housing in a cooperative system that will be carried out in the Girona counties. With the representative of Governing Council of the cooperative Sostre Cívic, Joan Barba, and the territory technique Catalonia Central and Terres Gironines of ours, Mandi Domingo, has announced the preliminary project of the promotion, where the construction of a building in a cooperative right of use regime, with 34 homes and parking spaces, with a total of 2.590 m2 built and distributed on the ground floor plus five.

The City Council of Palamós has ceded in favor of our cooperative a surface right on a plot of municipal property of 1000 m2 located inavenida de Catalunya, where this building will be promoted, built and managed. The assignment of the land was carried out at the end of last year, and was agreed for a period of 75 years, at which time these lands will revert back to the municipality.

Together, we will work to guarantee the right to decent and adequate housing a Palamós under a non-speculative model and outside the market, developed from citizen participation in a transformative collective project for the economic, energetic and social sustainability of housing. We will increase a Palamós the housing stock qualified for official protection, so that priority groups that the real estate market leaves out, such as young people, single-parent families or those over 65, can access decent, stable and affordable housing. The project allows access to these social housing to be in a cooperative right of use regime. In this way, residents would pay a monthly membership fee that would be stable and at an affordable price.

This preliminary project will have to be finalized in the coming months with the drafting of the final project, with the aim of to be able to present it during next autumn in the various informative talks that have been planned to be organized to be able to find the partners who will form the driving force of the specific Cooperative Palamós, through which the construction of the housing building will subsequently begin.
