The right of use model extends!

The Balearic Housing Institute (IBAVI) has presented the program Cohabits, with the aim of transfer public lots to cooperatives for the self-promotion of sheltered housing in right of use. This initiative continues the line that began with the approval of the new Housing Law of the Balearic Islands in June 2018, where it is proposed for the first time to encourage the participation of cooperatives under the right of use regime in housing policies.

It has already been made public Basic document (download) of the competition for the award of five public lots, which wants to promote the construction of up to 117 homes under the right of use regime. Housing cooperatives that have already been established, or cooperatives in the process of being established, can apply, and each cooperative can opt for a maximum of three lots.

The deadline for submitting proposals is until 14:00 p.m. on April 23, 2019.

Group proposals for collective management

To be able to participate in the award competition, it is necessary to do so jointly: the interested parties must organize themselves in the form of a cooperative and submit a group proposal.

Other requirements to be able to appear in the call are:

• Be registered in the public register of applicants for sheltered housing in the Balearic Islands under the rental regime.
• Not be holders of the full domain, usufruct or other right that allows the use of a home and/or another type of property that meets the habitability requirements.
• Spanish nationality or legal residence in Spain.
• Do not exceed the maximum level of income you runponent (specified in basis).
