Today we are in luck! This morning we have been selected to receive one of the Recognitions CoopCat 2018, driven by the Confederation of Cooperatives of Catalonia, which wants to institutionally acknowledge the contribution of the different cooperatives in the territory to Catalan society.

Sostre Cívic has been awarded by to be a pioneer in incorporating an innovative and comprehensive model of access to housing in terms of use in accordance with the values ​​of equality, solidarity, equity, democracy and self-organization.

The event took place at the Filmoteca de Catalunya and was attended by the president of the Generalitat, Quim Torra, by Chakir El Homrani, Minister for Work, Social Affairs and Families; and Álvaro Porro, Commissioner for Social Economy, Local Development and Consumption of Barcelona City Council.

This is the second edition of the CoopCat Awards, which this year have highlighted the work that the 14 selected cooperatives they do throughout the territory, among which they are We are Connection, EDUVIC: Sostre Cívic. The aim is to reward the contribution of these entities when transferring cooperative values ​​to daily life, as well as their cooperative trajectory, commitment to the territory, quality employment, entrepreneurship, inter-cooperation and the internationalization of their projects.

But, as it became clear during the event, these 14 initiatives are just a small sample of everything transformative potential of the social economy in Catalonia! After the intervention of Guillem Llorens, president of the Confederation of Cooperatives of Catalonia, Chakir El Homrani emphasized that "this is the year that more cooperatives have been created in this country; more than 200 in 39 counties, and all with a vocation to respond to the entire territory.”

We would like to share this prize with all those people who make the cooperative housing in right of use possible! Sostre Cívic we already have more than 750 partners, but also all the people and entities that help us start and carry out each project.
