Vermouth Tornassol: Participatory title buyers know the group!

Last November 17 the members of the project of Cal Paler Nou, in Cardedeu, wanted to organize a very special meeting... do you want to know more details?

In early 2018 Sostre Cívic launched a campaign to issue participatory titles, dubbed a Tornassol, to carry out a pioneering project: recover a private lot to build a cooperative housing building in right of use. And it was quite a success! Thanks to the involvement of almost 150 people, the campaign went ahead and it was possible to buy the land where 39 homes of different sizes will be built, with collective spaces that will be the essence of community life.

In gratitude for their collaboration, the group driving the project of Cal Paler Nou invited them on November 17 to #VermutTornassol to exchange impressions, resolve doubts and, above all, have a meeting together and get to know each other in person!

A day to remember

It all started on the site of the project on Camí de la Serreta, in Cardedeu, on the plot where we will soon build the cooperative housing building. There the driving group and the technical team of Sostre Cívic they briefly explained the progress that is being made according to the planned schedule, and the intense work that the group is doing during the participatory architectural process in which it is immersed right now.

The meeting ended with a vermouth and a pica-pica of local products at the Sant Jordi brewery, a leisure space to get to know the group in a relaxed way and find out first-hand how the project is evolving and how the people are doing that integrate it.

The good atmosphere generated improved (if at all) a little more when the architects of The Baula i Stem they showed the first models of the project that is being cooked in the participatory process. The excitement was shared, and the feeling of having contributed to the materialization of such a transformative initiative that will change the lives of many families, generated a great wave of smiles among the attendees.

How has the project progressed Cal Paler Nou the last few months?

After the summer, which served to start the process of getting to know each other and strengthening the group's relationships with the support and facilitation of Matriu, the participatory process that will define the architectural project began.

Throughout these months, different workshops and meetings have been held to start making the decisions that will define the architecture of Cal Paler Nou and specify them in a preliminary project, which will be the basis for later developing the basic and executive project that will guide the construction of the building. As in other projects of Sostre Cívic, it is a living and collaborative process, which allows the empowerment of the people who make it up and which is very different from conventional housing developments.

Our forecast is to close this preliminary project at the beginning of next year, so that the architects, with this basis, can draw up the basic project and ask for the building permit before the summer. We want to start construction before the end of next year 2019!
