Sostre Cívic, in collaboration with the City Council of Palamós, we have started the first actions of the works of ours cooperative housing project in right of use in the municipality Today, in front of the lot where the building will be built, the mayor of Palamós and representatives of the cooperative explained the details of the beginning of the works and the project as a whole. This new project is part of our commitment to creating a innovative, sustainable and socially responsible cooperative housing model. Will be first project of these characteristics in Girona lands.


Terra de Mar will be built on a public plot of 1000 m² given by the council, on Avinguda Catalunya. It will consist of 34 homes, qualified for official protection. Designed by UMMA architects, the homes will be between 39 and 67 square meters, from one to three bedrooms, and there will also be collective spaces designed for community living. In addition, it will be built to the highest standards ofenergy efficiency and environmental sustainability. We have an A energy certification, and it will be the first building of this innovative model of access to housing to obtain the GREEN sustainable construction certification (from the Green Building Council Spain). The works are expected to last until the end of 2025 so that the partners can move in at the beginning of 2026.


A public-cooperative collaboration
The project has been financed mainly by the Official Credit Institute, and we also have a subsidy from the Generalitat. In addition, the result of the collaboration with the City Council of Palamós, we have reserved 25% of the homes of the promotion for neighbors of Palamós and county over 65, young people up to 35 and single-parent families. In this way, 'Terra de Mar' exemplifies the fruitful collaboration between the public sector and non-profit entities to address the needs of social housing stock at a stable and affordable price. The right of use contracts are for life, the monthly installments (valid for rent) will be between €490 and €780 (depending on the size of the homes) and to move in you will need to make a capital contribution (returnable whenever you want to leave the house) of between €12.000 and €19.000.

Registration open to the driving group
The new project, like all the ones we manage at Sostre Cívic, has a great community aspect. For that it is important that people interested in living there already join the driving group. The registration campaign is open until May 12. To be part of it you need become a member of the cooperative, meet the official protection criteria of the municipality of Palamós, and be able to respond financially to the first capital contributions of the project. During the registration campaign, both the city council and Sostre Cívic we will inform the public about the characteristics of the project through different information sessions.
