The aim is to make available to the people of the territory spaces and instruments for self-employment and agri-food production, promoting equity in access to productive means.

It was at the end of 2022 when they started living together El Turrós, a cooperative housing project in La Garrotxa, and the first with a rural character in Sostre Cívic.

Since his birth, El Turrós thought beyond residential use. It is posed as a integral project, which takes as a model the close interrelationship of the productive and reproductive life of the peasantry's ways of life, taking advantage of the available spaces to generate human and material wealth. With this aim, a comprehensive project for rural life is proposed, and to turn it into the nexus between housing initiatives, agroecology and circular economy.

Change the productive model from local and community action

In January 2024 El Turrós, thanks to the collaboration of the Emprius Foundation, promotes one micro patronage campaign on the Goteo platform to promote the construction of a multi-functional workshop for collective ownership, management and use that will consist of a flour mill, a wood-fired oven, and a food workshop for the processing of cereals, vegetables and fruits to obtain of manufactured products.

The aim is to make available to the people of the territory spaces and instruments for self-employment and agri-food production, promoting theequity in access to productive means, stimulating self-employment, enabling the obtaining of greater added value through the transformation of agricultural products, and collaborating in weave a context of food and work sovereignty.

Individuals or productive projects they will have the right to use the space and the tools for professional productive activities, for leisure and for self-consumption. The space will be available to users for half days or whole days, paying a usage fee. The space can be used regularly for stable productions, or on a one-off and sporadic basis.

In this way, we want to make it easier for new productive activities to be located in the rural environment, enriching the territory with economic diversity, empowering its inhabitants, dynamizing the socio-economic fabric and contributing to local development.
