How time passes... we grow up! Did you know that 15 years ago, in 2004, the association was formed Sostre Cívic, with the aim of spreading a new model of housing in Catalonia: cooperative housing in right of use?

Taking the Scandinavian countries and the Andel model as a reference, it was the first entity in the territory to be created for this purpose. As a pioneer within the sector, the road to travel by disseminating and explaining how the right of use works was long and stimulating. But we soon gained strength and six years later, we launched the birth of the cooperative, to be able to carry out the first projects under this model, and begin to realize an alternative that until then only seemed possible many kilometers away. 

15 years later, we have 5 cooperative housing projects underway and a social base of more than 900 members! In addition, we now share efforts and network with many other entities that work to make this model possible (such as housing sector of the XES) and we love to see how the different initiatives are growing throughout the territory.

Lots of activities to celebrate... and you can't miss it!

Because it turns out that we celebrate two birthdays at the same time! The neighbors of Princesa49 they have been living together in the building for a year now and want to open their doors so that the rest of the partners know about the project. We will take a guided tour of the building, learning about the different common spaces and the rehabilitation actions that were carried out, and we will explain how the birth and development process of Princesa49.

Calabria 66 (c. Calabria, 66)

together with the diaries Crític we are organizing this meeting with the councilor for housing in Barcelona, ​​Lucía Martín, to share an informal space in which to talk about the housing situation in the city and the role that the cooperative housing model can have in the right of use .

We will screen the award-winning documentary Push, on real estate and urban speculation on a global scale, and then we will have a small debate to share conclusions and reflections on the subject. To finish, we will share a snack at the Espai Bistrot in Zumzeig itself. This activity is open to the public, but we reserve some seats for partners and companions.
